Andi's Anecdotes: The Season is Upon Us

Hey guys, I am Andi Bentley, a junior from Cary, N.C. and a member on the NC State volleyball team. I just wanted to catch you up on some new things happening with the team.
I hope everyone had a great summer. I spent most of my summer with my family and friends, working out, and I also spent a few weeks coaching in different areas throughout the state. Summer came to a bittersweet end when preseason rolled around at the beginning of August. There are a lot of new faces; we have six returnees, nine new players and three new coaches. We have spent a lot of time getting to know each other and finding out what each person enjoys, their fears, expectations and goals. Preseason basically consisted of waking up at the crack of dawn, practice, ice bath, weights, practice, ice bath, shower, dinner and then team activities. Repeat steps 1-8 for 2 weeks.
While everybody was moving back to school this past weekend we had our first team scrimmage on Saturday. There it was, time to put it all together and show all our fans what we've been working so hard to accomplish during practice. Our scrimmage wasn't perfect, but we did learn from it. Though there were moments of brilliance, we played timid and hesitant. But you best believe that we busted our butts in practice the next few days and got in the right mindset that we will scratch, claw or fight to win any game.
The start of our season begins this weekend with our first tournament in Charlotte, N.C. With this being our first road trip, we look forward to "kickin' on the road!!" Also, don't forget to mark your calendars for this coming Labor Day weekend; it will be our first home tournament, the Wolfpack Classic. Come out and support the new team!
