RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State volleyball head coach Charita J. Stubbs has announced that Jessica Williams of Houston, Texas will be joining the team in time for competition next fall. A 5' 10" middle blocker and outside hitter, Williams will step into the program as a sophomore, transferring from the University of Texas El-Paso after her freshman season. With the Miners this past year, Williams competed in 81 of UTEP's contests, starting many matches at the middle blocker position.
"I am extremely happy to have Jessica's athleticism and college experience to step in and help us right away," said coach Stubbs.
Williams enjoyed a solid prep career at Elkins High School and was named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-State team during her senior season. Before singing on at UTEP, Williams was highly recruited by Clemson, Butler and Kentucky.
The NC State volleyball team will begin next season on Aug. 25 in Charlotte, N.C., at the Charlotte Tournament. The Pack will host the annual Wolfpack Classic on Sept. 1-2 at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, N.C.
