Track Sending Two More to NCAA Championships

Raleigh, N.C. - The final day of action at the NCAA East Regional Championships wrapped up on Saturday night, and the NC State track and field squad came away with two more qualifiers for the NCAA Championships. Senior Ebony Foster won the 100 hurdles for the second straight year with her time of 12.97, and will be going to the NCAA Championships for the third straight season. The time is also a new Eastern Regional best. Mitchell Pope will also be heading to the NCAA Championships, as he finished second in the shot put with a season-best throw of 62'05.25". Foster and Pope will be joined at the NCAA Championships by Julia Lucas, who qualified in the 5,000 meters yesterday.
In other action on the women's side, Jemissa Hess placed 10th in the finals of the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:27.92. Kristina Roth was 17th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with her time of 10:41.44.
In other action on the men's side, Chris Crawford did not record a mark in the shot put. In the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase, John Henderson was eight (9:06.29) and Gavin Coombs took 14th (9:11.93). Henderson is eligible to go the NCAA Championships as an at-large, it will depend on other regional times.
The NCAA Championships will be held June 7-10 in Sacramento, California.
