Massey and Gambino Named Caterpillar Scholar Athletes

Caterpillar is proud to partner with NC State to present a program that honors the achievements of our student-athletes in the classrooms as well as on the playing fields. Each month two Wolfpack Scholar athletes will be selected as a member of the Caterpillar Scholar Athlete team. To be named to the Caterpillar Scholar Athlete team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.00 GPA for at least one semester and be a full-time student at NC State.
During the Spring 2006 semester 236 Wolfpack Student Athletes achieved a semester GPA of 3.00 or higher and 118 student-athletes were Dean's List honorees.
This month Caterpillar and NC State are proud to honor soccer's Michelle Massey and wrestling'sChris Gambino.

Michelle Massey has served as a co-captain on the NC State Women's Soccer team. But, it's in the classroom where the native of Raleigh, North Carolina, has really stood out. Michelle has compiled a 3.78 Total Grade Point Average in her math education major. This senior sensation has also been named to the NC State Dean's List six times during her college career. Michelle also earned a spot on the ACC Honor Roll for the 2002-2003, 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 academic years.

Pound for pound, Chris Gambino is as tough as they come. He's a standout wrestler for the Pack in the 157 pound category. And, in the classroom, the freshman from Glenside, Pennsylvania, knows how to go the distance. Chris has compiled a 3.82 Total Grade Point average in his Biological Sciences major. He was also named to the NC State Dean's List for the fall semester of 2005.
Congratulations to both Michelle and Chris and all the other Caterpillar Scholar Athletes.
