NC State (38-16) won the second game of the doubleheader, 6-5, to sweep the first two games from Florida State (31-21, 6-7 ACC) to move into a tie for first in the ACC at 10-4. Abbie Sims homered twice and drove in four RBIs and Jen Chamberlin and Miranda Ervin each hit RBI singles to pace the offense. Shaina Ervin improved to 13-3 by striking out seven, and Megan Dalthorp notched her first save of the season with 2.2 innings of shutout ball in relief. The two teams square off in Tallahassee, Fla. on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Game two of the doubleheader showcased the offensive production of both teams. NC State jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the second when Sims homered to center, her fifth of the season.

Four more Wolfpack runs in the third moved the lead to 5-0. Heather Gelbard singled to lead off the inning and Tess Corona came in to run. Shanna Smith sacrificed Corona to second and Chamberlin drew a walk. Miranda Ervin singled to left to drive in Corona from second for the second run of the game. Sims then hit her second home run of the game to left, a three-run jack, for the 5-0 lead.

FSU's Yuruby Alicart tripled to right center with the bases loaded in the third to trim the lead to 5-3.

Chamberlin hit a RBI single to drive in Harkey from second after Harkey singled and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Corona.

With NC State up 6-3, the Seminoles put two on the board in the fifth to chase Shaina Ervin. Alicart hit a RBI double and Veronica Wootson followed with a run scoring triple to make it 6-5. Megan Dalthorp came in to pitch and promptly struck out Brittany Osmon before walking Melissa Wood. Dalthorp then fanned Carie Gallupi to strand Wootson at third.

Dalthorp was superb in relief, allowing just two hits, walking two and striking out three in 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.
