Raleigh, N.C. - Gymnastics assistant coach Todd Henry is back with this weeks edition of `Inside the Chalk Box'. The Pack is coming off their NCAA Regional performance down at Georgia last weekend. After struggling on the first two events, NC State finished with strong performances on both floor and vault. Although the Pack did not advance to the NCAA Championships, sophomore Leigha Hancock will be heading to Oregon State to compete for the national title on floor since she won a share of the title at the NCAA Regionals.
Henry: I am happy to report that our gymnastics team has accomplished our goal for this season....a top-25 finish! We just competed at regionals in Georgia. Our final ranking is 22nd in the nation. The ladies on the team did a wonderful job through some difficult times this year. They stayed the course and believe we could close the year out on a high note. Last year we finished No. 29. What will next year bring? I believe the gymnasts we have coming, plus the talent we have returning to our program will assist us in elevating NC State to a top-18 team.
I would like to say goodbye and thanks to Kylah Backman and Beth Faulkner. These two young ladies are our graduating seniors. I know that they are excited to begin the next chapter in their lives. Best of luck, you will be missed!
Leigha Hancock, who had an outstanding year for the Wolfpack will compete for the national championship on floor next weekend at Oregon State. This is a great moment for Leigha and our program! I will give a full national report in two weeks!
