Cameron Bennerman and Cedric Simmons, who helped guide NC State to a 21-8 record during the regular season, were honored on the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Basketball Teams, which were released on Monday. Bennerman, a senior guard who is the Wolfpack's leading scorer with an average of 13.5 points per game, was voted onto the All-ACC third team. Simmons, a sophomore center, made honorable mention while also being named to the ACC's All-Defensive squad.
Playing the best basketball of his career, the athletic Bennerman is shooting 45.4 percent from the field and 86 percent from the free throw line, a figure that ranks third in the ACC.
One of the league's most improved players, Simmons averages 12.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest. He's also the ACC's second leading shot blocker with 76 on the season.
The Wolfpack will open play in the ACC Tournament Friday afternoon at 2:30 against the winner of Thursday's first round match-up between Florida State and Wake Forest.
