Piscataway, N.J. - Five members of the NC State gymnastics team were honored on the All-EAGL first and second teams announced at the conference's annual banquet. The Wolfpack was recognized on one of the first-teams a total of five times, and had an individual on one of the various second-teams a total of four times. The EAGL Championships will be held at Rutgers Saturday night at 6:00 p.m.
Senior Kylah Bachman ended her career once again racking up the conference awards. Bachman was named All-EAGL first-team for both beam and the all-around. She was named first-team on beam for the second time in her career, and after notching second-team honors for the all-around each of the last two years she was named first-team this season.
Sophomore Leigha Hancock took home the most honors for the Wolfpack, gaining an award on all three of her events. Hancock was named All-EAGL first-team for both beam and floor, and was also named to the second-team for vault.
Junior Rachel Katz was once again named to the All-EAGL first-team for vault. Katz has been honored on the first-team in each of her three seasons.
Sophomore Heather Zolton was honored for the second straight season as an All-EAGL second-team member for bars. Zolton was also named to the second-team for the all-around, combining with Bachman to give NC State two members honored for the all-around for the first time since 2001.
Freshman Ashley Shepard continued the rookie success for the Wolfpack, as she was named All-EAGL second-team for floor. NC State has now had at least one freshman on either the first or second-teams each of the past five years.
