Wolfpack Travels to East Carolina for Doubleheader

NC State softball (25-10) will travel to East Carolina (19-11) for a non-conference doubleheader on Wed., March 22 at 5 and 7 p.m. The Wolfpack is riding a seven-game win streak into the contest, the third-longest streak in school history. Miranda Ervin leads the team with a .308 average, 29 RBIs and a .646 slugging percentage in 29 games played. She also is tied for the team lead (and second in the ACC) with six home runs. NC State is 1-1 on the road this season and is 2-0 all-time against the Pirates.
Abbie Sims leads the team with a 13-5 record and 144 strikeouts in 110.2 innings pitched, and Shaina Ervin (6-2, 1.57 ERA) and Megan Dalthorp (6-2, 2.19 ERA) have been consistent in the circle for the Wolfpack.
Shanna Smith has stolen an ACC-best 19 bases on the season and has seven doubles (1st on the team, t-5th ACC), three triples (1st on the team, t-1st ACC) and a pair of home runs (fourth on the team).
Pack Points - Eleven different Wolfpack players have hit home runs ... The 25-10 start is the fastest to 25 wins in the programs' three seasons ... NC State won 11-straight contests in 2004 and eight straight in 2005 ... The Wolfpack is 2-0 all-time against East Carolina ... NC State will host Virginia Tech this weekend in Raleigh after the ECU doubleheader, and NC State is 4-0 all-time against the Hokies ... Lisa Nentwig is hitting .500 (10-of-20) and leads the team in average, hits, doubles (3) and on-base percentage (.524) during the win streak.
