Pope Wins Shot Put With NCAA Provisional Mark

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Mitchell Pope and Chris Crawford finished 1-2 in the shot put at the Carolina Last Chance Meet in North Carolina's Smith Fieldhouse Wednesday night. Pope hit the NCAA provisional mark for his seventh time in nine tries, with a toss of 61-0.75.
Joya Rodgers won the 60m dash with a time of 7.61. Jennifer Webster cleared 5-6 to win the high jump and also won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.88.
Laila Thomas was the runner-up in the 60m hurdles with a career-best time of 9.05. She took third in the long jump with a mark of 16-8.75 and fourth in the high jump at 5-4.25. Mattie Bethea won the long jump with a mark of 18-2.5, placed third in the high jump at 5-4.25 and finished fourth in the 60m hurdles. Christie Black reached 16-6 in the long jump for fourth place and registered fifth place finishes in both the high jump and the 60m hurdles.
Shanelle Cross was the runner-up in the long jump with a mark of 17-11.
Reggie Reese ran a 6.96 in the 60m prelims and placed third in the finals while Dexter Adams took fourth with a career-best time of 7.00.
