Gymnastics Travels to Maryland Saturday Night

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State gymnastics team hits the road once again this weekend, when the Wolfpack (4-1) travel to Maryland and compete in the annual Governor's Cup. NC State will battle EAGL conference rivals No. 25 North Carolina and Maryland as well as Towson. The meet will be held Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. This weekends meet marks the third of four meets on the road to open the 2006 season for NC State.
NC State is currently 4-1 with an average score of 190.225. The Pack ranks third in the EAGL on both vault and floor, and is fifth on bars. Senior Kylah Bachman is once again leading the way, as she has won an event title in all three meets this season, including two straight wins on beam. Sophomore Leigha Hancock won her first career title on floor last week, scoring a career-best 9.875.
The Tar Heels (7-2) are currently 25th in the nation and are averaging 191.875 points a meet. Maryland is 3-3 with an average score of 189.994, and Towson is 7-1 with their average of 189.383.
NC State finally returns to home action a week from Friday, when the Pack host the Hearts Invitational on Friday, February 10 at 7:00 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum.
