Stefani Eddins has arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia and has embarked on her professional volleyball career with Jakarta #46 BNI. She dropped gopack.com a line last week on how she's doing.
I'm here! It's beautiful, hot and humid here. It reminds me of Houston, Texas. Indonesia is not poor with proverty everywhere like it is on TV, well some parts are like that, just like everywhere else. Today we just saw where the rich stay and those houses are huge.
We leave tomorrow for our first game. We will have an hour flight to get to the city that we play at. I had practice yesterday about 4pm and we arrived at 10am, so there was not a lot of time to recover from jet lag, but oh well.
Most of the girls on my team are on the Indonesian National Team. Our season has a first round of games which lasts about a month. Then we take a two week vacation and then we have the second round, which is the most important because that leads to the tournament. The top four teams make the tournament and last year the team I am on won the championship.
Our name is Jakarta #46 BNI, which is named after our sponsors, the National Bank of Indonesia. There is one other American on my team, Linette. She played at Missouri. There will be a girl coming from China that played in the 2004 Olympics from her national team. So hopefully we will win the entire thing.
Well gotta go.
