NC State volleyball coach Charita J. Stubbs announced today the addition of Keisha J. Demps to the Wolfpack coaching staff. Demps joins the Pack as assistant volleyball coach and recruiting coordinator after spending three seasons as assistant coach at Boise State. A 1998 graduate of Arizona, Demps played both volleyball and basketball for the Wildcats, earning All-Pac-10 honors in volleyball before playing professional volleyball for two years.
"My first order of business after accepting this job was to get Keisha J. Demps to come with me," said Stubbs, who was named the NC State head volleyball coach earlier today. "One of the best players I've ever coached, Keisha brings an expert level of experience, ability and organization in both recruiting and on-the-court training. A tireless worker, she will play a vital role in our efforts to successfully turn this program around."
In her three years with the Broncos, Demps coached two all-conference selections. Prior to her stint in Boise, Demps served as an assistant coach with the St. Louis Quest in the United States Professional Volleyball league from 2001-2002. Beginning her coaching career at the University of Nevada, where she was an assistant coach from 2000-2001, Demps helped the Wolf Pack reach the 2001 NCAA Tournament.
Demps played in the United States Professional Volleyball League from 1999 through 2000, while at the same time serving as promotions assistant for the league. Named to the league's Dream Team, she helped the U.S. win the 2000 Millennium Cup in the international competition. Earning a degree in Communication from Arizona, the former Keisha Johnson also served on the Wildcats' Student Athlete Advisory Board from 1996 through 1998.
A native of Antioch, Calif., Demps is married to Thomas Demps III and the couple has a three-year-old daughter, Jade.
