Foster & Pope Register More Provisional Marks

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Ebony Foster ran the top 60m hurdles time in the ACC this season with a 8.27 in the preliminaries, improving her NCAA provisional time and finishing third in the finals with another provisional time of 8.35 at the Carolina Classic at Smith Fieldhouse in Chapel Hill, N.C., to lead the NC State indoor track & field teams Saturday. Mitchell Pope provisionally qualified in the shot put, again, winning the competition with a mark of 61-5.75.
Mattie Bethea and Laila Thomas both cleared 5-4.25 to tie for second place in the high jump, while Jennifer Webster tied for sixth place. Webster also finished 10th in the 60m hurdles. Tabitha Woodard shattered her career best in the pole vault, clearing 11-11.75 for second place. Shanelle Cross placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 17-8.75. Brie Ward came in fifth place in the weight throw with a mark of 50-9.50. Foster also finished third in the 60m with a time of 7.63.
Dexter Adams was the runner-up in the long jump, reaching 23-10.25. Jamar Dawson placed fifth in the triple jump with a career best mark of 45-5 and Ryan Sides finished 10th with 40-10.5. Chris Crawford hit 55-6.5 in the weight throw for third place and took fifth place in the shot put with a mark of 51-0.75.
Meanwhile, at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., John Crews ran a 14:15.63 in the 5,000m, the second-fastest time in the ACC this season.
NC State returns to action next weekend when the Wolfpack travels to Blacksburg, Va., to compete in the Virginia Tech Challenge.
