NC State fan gets early present, thanks to Dodge

It’s not unusual to want a new car for the family at Christmas. It’s even better if you have a chance to win one. And, with that in mind, NC State fan Kelvin Lucas of Wendell, NC, ventured to historic Darlington Racetrack on Monday, December 4, to participate in the
This popular promotion, now in its second year, brought together contestants from NC State,
First, however, Kelvin had the rare opportunity to see what it’s like to go around a racetrack. He and his fellow contestants got a ride in an official Pace Car for a few “hot laps”, hitting speeds of up to 100 miles per hour.

As luck would have it, no. Believe it or not, for the second year in a row the one envelope that everyone else passed on had the key that started the car. That envelope belonged to Liz Irwin of
“The Carolina Dodge Dealers are excited about participating with all four universities,” said Phil Winter of BBDO Advertising. “It was a great promotion.”
Yes it was. And, even though he didn’t win the car Kelvin wasn’t complaining. “I thought it was a very exciting experience,” remarked the Wolfpack fan. “I was glad to be a part of the event and represent my alma mater, NC State.”
Kelvin Lucas didn’t go home empty handed, however. Just for being selected as NC State’s grand prize winner he won a new pullover. And, since there’s no bowl trip to send him to, he won a cash prize of $500. Not a bad way to spend a December day, and kick off the holiday season.
