Andi's Anecdotes: Farewell to our Seniors

Editor's note: This Saturday, Nov. 18, is Senior Day for Melissa Rabe and Lyssa Ramirez. Both will be honored before the match with Miami at Reynolds Coliseum. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Hello Wolfpack fans! With the holiday season rapidly approaching, so is our season finale. This coming weekend we have our last two home matches of the season; battling Florida State on Friday and Miami on Saturday. Saturday night will also be the last matches in Reynolds for our two seniors Melissa Rabe and Lyssa Ramirez. It will be sad to see them go. Both of them brought a lot of energy and experience to the team.
First, let me tell you some things about Melissa Rabe, sometimes called "M" or "M Dawg." She is the brainiac, the health freak, and the quiet one on the team. But don’t let these things fool you, because she is a hidden comedian. Every now and then, she will let out a bright remark and we all turn heads and look at her and laugh. She has really opened up this last year, and I am going to miss her presence on this team. Another characteristic that she possesses is composure. You can never rattle Melissa; she will never look defeated or tired. She is a trooper, and I am very proud of her for being strong and getting through these four years.
And then there is Lyssa Ramirez. First off, Lyssa underwent a position change, but that didn’t faze her. She knew that she had a new role on the team and stepped up where we needed her. Lyssa has a very positive attitude and is always making sure everybody is giving there best, because she will get on you if you're not. Lyssa always makes me smile and laugh with her witty jokes and she communicates well with teammates on and off the court. I am certain that if you come to the games this weekend you will hear her big voice in the background, telling everybody what is happening on the other side of the net. We are a team, and we can’t do it without all 15 players. Lyssa has shown me that.
This weekend is your last chance to come out and support the Wolfpack women’s volleyball team, so cancel your plans and do whatever you can to come out and cheer us on and say farewell to our seniors! Hope to see you all this weekend. Go Pack! I hope everyone has a blessed and safe Thanksgiving.
