• The former Wolfpack brother duo Mark and Brian Gauley won the 11th North Carolina Four-Ball Championship held in Foxfire Village, N.C., in late October. The Gauley brothers fired a final round ten-under par 62 to tie defending champions John Finster and Danny Gurley after 54 holes at 20-under par 196 total. Gauley and Gauley combined for nine birdies, an eagle and one bogey.
The first two playoff holes were halved with pars. Brian Gauley made a birdie on the 419-yard par four third hole to seal the victory

• Two former Wolfpack All-Americans finished up strong seasons on the PGA Tour. Carl Pettersson finished 18th on the money list with earning totaling $2,647,983, and Tim Clark placed 32nd on the money list making $1,974,932 this year.
Pettersson competed in 28 events, placing in the top-10 a total of six times, and winning one tournament. Pettersson won the Memorial Tournament back in June, with a score of 12-under par. He also competed in all four majors, with his top showing an eighth place finish at the British Open. Pettersson ended the season with an 18th place showing at the Tour Championship.
Clark played in 22 events on the year, and placed in the top-10 in four tournaments. Clark’s best results was a second place finish at the Masters at Augusta National, a weekend that netted him a total of $756,000.

• While NC State was well represented on the PGA tour, eight former NC State golfers played in qualifying tournaments this past month to try to earn their own tour card. Four of the eight have moved onto the second stage of qualifying, while two others just missed moving on by one stroke.
Four former NC State golfers will be moving on in the qualifying rounds. Marc Turnesa was the top finisher, as he tied for first with a 10-under 274 at Spring Creek, Florida. Garth Mulroy placed fourth over with a 8-under 280 at St. Augustine, Florida. David Sanchez finished in a tie for ninth with a 2-under 278 in Florence, South Carolina. Fernando Mechereffe was the final former NC State golfer to qualify, as he was 23rd at 5-over 293 at Treyburn Country Club in Durham.
Hank Kim and Justin Walters both just missed out from advancing by one stroke in Florence, South Carolina, as well. Each shot a 4-over 284 for the tournament, but fell just short.
Jason Moon and Chris Mundorf also competed, but did not qualify for the second stage.
• The NC State men’s golf team had a strong fall season, finishing in the top-10 in all three tournaments. The Pack also competed in the prestigious Callaway Collegiate Match Play to wrap up the fall season, and will be back on the course in February traveling to the Puerto Rico Golf Classic.
• The Wolfpack will welcome two new faces next season, having signed two recruits during the fall signing period. Chad Day from local Ravenscroft High School and Matt Hill from Brights Grove, Ontario, will both compete next year. Day was just named to the 12-player HP Scholastic Junior All-American Golf Team.
