Durham, N.C. – The NC State volleyball team lost to Duke, 3-0, on Wednesday, Nov. 1, in Durham, N.C. Chrissy Zirpolo and Keshia Raibon both produced eight kills each to lead the Wolfpack offense. Allison Davis hoisted 22 assists, while the team recorded four total blocks. In defeat, NC State falls to 2-21 (0-14 ACC), while Duke moves to 20-3 (13-1 ACC).
The Pack recorded a .000 hitting percentage in game one, as the Blue Devils crushed 18 kills and hit .486, cruising to a 30-12 win. The Blue Devils grabbed the first six points of the match and never looked back, allowing the red and white offense just six kills total, while committing a lone error.
Game two saw a much closer contest with 12 tied scores and six lead changes. The Pack put together its best frame of the night, posting 12 kills and hitting .163. With the score knotted at 21-21, Duke strung together a seven point run, only allowing three more Wolfpack scores before ending the game, 30-24.
Both teams played their poorest statistical games in the third and final stanza, with the Blue Devils taking the 30-16 decision. NC State hit -.040 and committed 10 errors, while Duke hit .279. The Blue Devils led 10-9 before hitting an eight point scoring run, moving the score to 18-9. The red and white would only manage to collect seven more points the rest of the way before play ended on a attack error from Kelley Blakewood.
NC State will return to the courts this Friday, Nov. 3, at Wake Forest. The Pack will challenge the Demon Deacons at 7 p.m.
