The red and white offered a much stronger performance in game two, despite losing 30-20. NC State grabbed three of the first four points coming out of the gate, but Florida State took the lead at 8-7 on a kill by Malorie Wessel and controlled play the rest of the way.
The Noles seemed poised to breeze through the third and final game after starting off with a 7-1 run, but the Pack tied the game on a six-point rally sparked by a Raibon kill. Both teams traded blows and exchanged control, with neither squad leading by more than two points, until FSU took a 22-19 advantage on a Williams attack error. Shortly following a Wolfpack timeout, the Noles grabbed four consecutive points to mount a 25-20 lead. The Pack grabbed one final point on a Williams kill, but the Noles took the contest, 30-21.
Raibon led the Pack in the kill department, drilling seven, while Williams and Chrissy Zirpolo each posted four.
NC State will take to the road again next weekend, continuing ACC play at Clemson and Georgia Tech. The Pack will challenge the Tigers on Friday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. in Clemson, S.C., before battling the Yellow Jackets on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. in Atlanta, Ga.
