Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State men’s soccer team will host ACC rival Virginia Tech this Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Method Road in the Charlie Bryant game. The Pack will honor the former NC State coach and executive director of the Wolfpack Club, Charlie Bryant, on this day for all his contributions to the program. The Wolfpack (4-6-1, 1-3-1 ACC) down Maine 1-0 last time out, while the Hokies (6-4-1, 0-3-1 ACC) are coming off a 1-0 win over Radford earlier this week.
The Wolfpack scored a 1-0 win over Maine on Wednesday afternoon. Freshman Alex Sanchez scored his team leading fifth goal of the season with a penalty kick in the third minute for the game’s lone score. Christopher Widman returned in goal for NC State, and picked up his second shutout of the season.
The Hokies offense is lead by last seasons ACC Rookie of the Year Patrick Nyarko. The season Nyarko has eight goals and four assists for 20 points, in helping the Hokies outscore the opposition 23-15 thus far.
The teams have split the two meetings since Virginia Tech joined the ACC, each winning on its own home field. Virginia Tech won last year in Blacksburg by a count of 4-0, and the Wolfpack won 2-0 when the teams played in Raleigh in 2004.
