Raleigh, N.C. - Playing in the final regular season game of the season, the NC State men’s soccer team shutout visiting Gardner-Webb 3-0 Wednesday night at SAS Soccer Park. Before the contest, coach Tarantini and the Wolfpack honored former NC State coach and executive director of the Wolfpack Club, Charlie Bryant, for all his contributions to the mens soccer program.
The Wolfpack (5-9-1) converted on two penalty kicks and added another score in the shutout win over the Bulldogs (7-7-3). The Pack will now wait to find out who and when it plays in next weeks ACC Tournament in Germantown, Md.
NC State got on the scoreboard first in the 26th minute of the game. Freshman Jorge Mora was fouled inside the penalty box, resulting in a PK. Classmate Alan Sanchez netted the shot home at the 25:21 mark.
The Wolfpack would add one more goal before the half. Mora took a corner kick and found senior Haddon Kirk who kept the ball alive in the PK box, as sophomore Ronnie Bouemboue ran onto it and slotted home his first score of the season at the 38:36 mark giving NC State a 2-0 lead.
The Pack would add one more late in the second half. This time senior Santiago Fusilier was tripped in the Gardner Webb box, and Sanchez once again converted the penalty shot in the 81st minute. Sanchez scored his team leading seventh and eighth goals of the season.
