The NC State women’s soccer team (8-7-2, 3-6 ACC) hosts its last non-conference opponent, High Point University (4-12, 3-4 Big South), on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. at Method Road Soccer Stadium in Raleigh, N.C. The match was originally scheduled for 4 p.m. The Wolfpack lead the series, 6-0, after a 5-0 victory at the beginning of the 2005 season in High Point, N.C. The Pack is 7-3-1 at home this season.
The red and white hosts High Point after suffering two ACC losses. The Pack fell to rival North Carolina, 4-1, on Thursday, Oct. 19 and in overtime to Clemson, 1-0, on Sunday, Oct. 22. Senior goalkeeper Megan Connors made a combined 15 saves in the match, bringing her season total to 86, and breaking the 200 mark in her career total with 206 saves in 48 matches. Junior Jessica O'Rourke leads the Pack in goals with seven, but sophomore Lindsay Vera is not far behind with five goals the season, posting her fifth in the match against UNC. Six players posted the Pack’s other eight goals. Freshman Katie Ruiz leads the red and white in assists with five.
High Point travels to Raleigh after defeating conference foe Radford, 3-1. Traci Andersen and Laura Eldridge lead the Panthers in scoring with five goals each. Five other players have scored the team’s other nine goals. Reine DeLaat leads the team in assists with three for the season. Leading goalie Marisa Abbott has made 43 saves in the 13 games she has played this season, making three in the match against Radford. The Panthers are 1-6 on the road this season.
