Andi's Anecdotes: A Family Atmosphere
10/2/2006 12:00:00 AM | Women's Volleyball
Thank you to all of the fans and students who came to our first ACC matches this year. Special thanks to the pep band, cheerleaders and Mr. & Mrs. Wolf for making the match against Duke special.
“The point of the game is not how well the individual does, but whether the team wins. That is the beautiful heart of the game, the blending of personalities, the mutual sacrifices for group successes.” - Bill Bradley
Here at NC State, team is family. For some of us, it is the closest thing we have from home. We spend every day together, laughing and sharing crazy stories. At the end of t he day we are all just a friend and a shoulder to lean on. The season is not even halfway over and already I feel like I’ve known these girls forever. We have some girls that are the wild ones that like to dance and be loud. On the other hand we have some that are quiet and studious. We also have the in-between. In the end we are just 15 different people, trying to gel and become a team on the court.
This past week we shared a lot of time off the court together. On Friday, a few girls on the team and I served dinner at the Salvation Army soup kitchen. Sunday morning the rest of team participated in a day of senior table tennis. Also, we all enjoyed a meal at El Dorado, my favorite Mexican restaurant, to celebrate Allison’s birthday.
This week we are traveling to the Sunshine state to play Miami and Florida State. We are on the road for two weeks and then return home for our first matches against Boston College and Maryland. I hope everyone is having a great year and if you haven’t come out to see us, what are you waiting for? Until next time, GO PACK!
