Atlanta, Ga. – The NC State volleyball team lost to Georgia Tech, 3-0, on Saturday, Oct. 14, in Atlanta, Ga. The Yellow Jackets hit .407 and committed just 12 errors throughout the match, while the Pack mustered 23 errors and .146 clip. With the loss, NC State dips to 2-16 (0-9 ACC) on the season, while Georgia Tech improves to 10-8 (2-6 ACC).
Georgia Tech grabbed the first six points of game one, three of which came off of NC State miscues. The Yellow Jackets held the lead for the entire game, and led by as many as eight points, before completely pulling away with a 10-point win, 30-20.
The Wolfpack grabbed the first point of the second game and maintained control for a brief period following the onset of play. The Yellow Jackets, however, took over for the remainder of the game after grabbing a 5-4 lead on a Kasey Rhyne service error. With the scoreboard set at 20-11, NC State made a late push, collecting seven of nine points to adjust the score to 22-18. The Yellow Jackets didn’t flinch, and brought the game to a halt, 30-22.
The red and white put up a match-low 11 kills in the third and final game, despite posting a .214 hitting percentage. Georgia Tech countered with their best hitting performance of the night, a .533 offering, while recording just three errors. The home squad took a 3-2 lead on a Callie Miller kill and never lost control, winning 30-18.
Jessica Williams led the Pack’s offensive attack with 12 kills. Allison Davis pushed up 33 assists and four block assists, while Andrea Bentley contributed nine digs. Keshia Raibon posted seven kills, as Ashley Wallace and Kelley Blakewood each drilled four of their own.
NC State will host Boston College next Friday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum on the NC State campus.
