The Wolfpack women’s tennis team has had a successful run at the ITA Southeast Indoor Regionals behind the play of freshman Berkley Brock. Brock was the seventh seed in the qualifying draw and promptly won two matches to make the main draw. Brock then teamed with fellow freshman Daria Petrovic in doubles as they won a pair of matches as well.
Neils Barringer upset the fifth-seeded player in the qualifying draw before bowing out of the tournament.
Brock, the seventh seed, won two matches in the qualifying rounds of singles to advance to the quarters. She lost just four games in two matches. She downed Valerie Behr (UNC-G) 6-0, 6-1 and followed that up with a win over Michele Fanney (Davidson) 6-2, 6-1. Brock, who advanced to the main draw because of her strong play, fell to the No. 9 seed Austin Smith of UNC, 6-2, 7-5, for just her second loss of the fall to 11 wins.
Neils Barringer upset the fifth-seeded player, Jessica Giuggiolli of Kentucky, 6-4, 6-3 before falling in the second round to Parker Goyer of Duke, 7-5, 6-1.
