RALEIGH, N.C. - Dave Williams won by fall at 184, and Charles Deighton won by forfeit at 197 to lift East Stroudsburg to a 21-17 decision over NC State on Saturday in the second round of the NC State Duals at Reynolds Coliseum.
The forfeit came about due to a knee injury suffered by 16th-ranked Ryan Goodman in the Wolfpack's 23-16 victory over Appalachian State in the first bout of the day. Those six points proved to be too much for the Wolfpack to overcome, despite splitting the 10 matches. The Pack actually jumped to a 7-0 lead in the team scoring thks to a major decision from Joe Caramanica at 149 and a decision by Bryant Reams at 157. But East Stroudsburg took the next two matches to cut the lead to 7-6, then took an 18-7 lead thanks to Williams' pin and the forfeit at 197.
