
No. 45 NC State Bypasses UNC Greensboro, 7-0

RALEIGH, N.C. - The No. 45 NC State men's tennis team returned to action on Saturday, Jan. 28, at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on the NC State campus. Taking on UNC Greensboro in the second of two matches on the day, the Wolfpack defeated the Spartans, 7-0. NC State collected all doubles and all singles decisions to pick up the team victory. The Wolfpack now stand at 5-0 on the season, while UNC Greensboro slips to 0-1.
NC State took an early 1-0 lead after collecting all three doubles matches. Sophomore David Rozek and freshman Jay Weinacker finished first at No. 2, downing Ian Conchar and Jason Steinhorn, 8-1. Junior Andre Iriarte and sophomore Mason Schermerhorn secured the doubles point for the Pack with a win at No. 3, 8-1, over Ryan Lewis and Austin Wilty. Sophomore Nick Cavaday and freshman Chris Welte put the icing on the cake for the red and white, winning at No. 1 over Marc Ladoucer and Martin Redelinghuys, 8-4, to complete a doubles shutout for the home squad.
In singles, senior Will Shaw grabbed another team point for the Wolfpack, downing Wilty at No. 4, 6-2, 6-0. Iriarte followed at No. 3, besting Steinhorn, 6-2, 6-1. Weinacker sealed the door on a Pack victory at No. 2 with a win over Redelinghuys, 6-1, 6-4.
At No. 1, Noblitt picked up another decision, taking down Ladoucer, 6-3, 6-3. Zink flew past Lewis, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6, while Schermerhorn upped Conchar, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 5.
The NC State men's tennis team will resume play on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on the NC State campus. The Pack will take on Yale at 12 p.m., before battling Campbell at 5 p.m.
