Katz Named Specialist of the Week

Rachel Katz was named EAGL Specialist of the Week after her performance at Cal State Fullerton.

Raleigh, N.C. - Junior Rachel Katz of the NC State gymnastics team has been named EAGL Specialist of the Week after the opening meet of the 2006 season. Katz won her 10th career vault title with a score of 9.875 to help NC State to a first-place finish with a team score of 188.575 last weekend at Cal State Fullerton. The junior from Bloomington, Ind., was the Pack's top finisher on all three of her events, as she tied for fourth on bars with a 9.625 and was seventh on beam with a 9.25.

NC State comes in at No. 23 in the nationally rankings this week, after coming home with a first place showing in a four-team meet at Cal State Fullerton last weekend. The Pack will hosts its first home meet this Saturday, as NC State will entertain EAGL conference foe No. 20 Rutgers at 1:00 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum.
