RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State volleyball team got back on track Saturday night with a 3-0 win over South Carolina State in the final match of the Wolfpack Classic at Reynolds Coliseum. After falling 3-1 to tournament champion Fordham earlier in the afternoon, the Wolfpack dispatched the Bulldogs 30-15, 30-23, 30-19 to take second place. Senior middle blockers Stefani Eddins and Adeola Kosoko were picked to the all-tournament team and Eddins, who added 17 kills and four blocks to her stellar weekend, was selected the MVP.
"We bounced back well tonight against South Carolina State after stumbling this afternoon against Fordham," said NC State head coach Mary Byrne. "We were more focused tonight. It was hard for us to stay in a rhythm today, but we'll learn from it. We need to move on. Stefani and Adeola played hard today and they were the key to our success."
Kosoko added 10 kills and three blocks while junior setter Melissa Rabe provided 39 assists. Sophomore defensive specialist Andrea Bentley led the Pack with 10 digs and freshman outside hitter Karlie Urbaniak chipped in eight digs as well. Redshirt-freshman right side hitter Stephanie Sims made her collegiate debut and registered one kill and junior setter Lyssa Ramirez came off the bench to assist on six kills.
NC State improves to 3-1 with the win and South Carolina State falls to 0-6 with the loss. The Wolfpack returns to action next weekend when it travels to University, Miss., to take on Lipscomb, Lamar, No. 11 Texas and Ole Miss in the Magnolia Invitational Sept. 9-10.
