Men's Golf Opens Season Monday At Shoal Creek Intercollegiate

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The NC State men's golf team opens its 2005-06 season Monday morning at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate at Shoal Creek Country Club Sept. 26-27 in Birmingham, Ala. The Wolfpack returns all five starters from last year's team that finished third at the ACC Championship. Head coach Richard Sykes, who begins his 35th year at the helm, met up with his squad Sunday after making a stop in Washington, D.C., to watch one of his former players, Tim Clark, in the President's Cup.
True freshman Darren Blair joins proven seniors Stephen Lewton, Taylor Crosby and veteran juniors Jerry Richardson and Garry Hill in the Wolfpack lineup at Shoal Creek. NC State will face a talented field of 15 teams including top 10 squads Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, Alabama, North Florida and LSU.
