Women's Soccer to Face No. 7 Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - NC State women's soccer continues its two-match road swing with a 1 p.m. match at No. 7 Florida State on Sunday, Sept. 22. The Pack, now 5-4-0 and 1-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, will take on a Seminoles squad that is 7-1-0 overall and 0-1 ACC. NC State is fresh off a conference opener at Miami, 1-0 in double overtime, while Florida State recently lost to No. 1 ranked North Carolina, 4-1 on Friday. This meeting marks the 11th in program history for both teams and Florida State holds the all-time series edge, 5-3-2. NC State is looking for its first win at FSU as it enters the match, 3-0-1 in Tallahassee. The afternoon match will broadcast on FOX Sports Florida and locally in Raleigh via satellite or through the Time Warner Cable sports package only.
For the second-straight year NC State defeated Miami in the conference opener and by the same score, 1-0. This time, NC State took the win in its third overtime game of the season. Junior Carol Tognetti, the Wolfpack's leading scorer with four goals and one assist, scored the game-winning goal in the 105th minute to give the Pack the victory. Freshman Lindsay Vera posted her third assist for the year as she punched through the corner kick that set up the overtime score for NC State. Vera also has two goals on the year and led the Pack in shots that game with five. Senior goalkeeper Kim Selz earned her third shutout for the year and owns a 5-2-0 record while making seven starts in eight appearances. She has made 29 saves and allowed just three goals in just over 678 minutes of action.
Florida State entered its Friday evening match against North Carolina with a seven-game winning streak. The Seminoles had allowed just three goals in that time, but gave up four in the 4-1 loss the Tar Heels. The squad has 24 for the year. Sophomore forward Sel Kuralay has posted an ACC and team-best nine goals and has added four assists for 22 points, also an ACC best. Three of those nets have been game-winning goals. Redshirt junior Ali Mims has posted four shutouts in her eight starts. She has made 26 saves and allowed four goals in her 730+ minutes in between the posts.
