RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State is looking to rebound from its recent streak of tough losses. The impending two road games mark the third and fourth consecutive away matches for the Pack in two weeks. NC State will finally return home on Oct. 2, to face No. 7 Duke. The Wolfpack closed out its non-conference slate with a 4-4 record and will once again open the conference portion of its schedule at Miami. Last year NC State defeated Miami, 1-0 in the league opener. Junior goalkeeper Megan Connors recorded four saves in the shutout and graduated senior Anna Helenius scored the game-winning goal in the 37th minute. The Pack has struggled to get its offense back on track. In the last four games NC State has gone without a goal, this after recording nine goals in the first four matches. The good news is that NC State's defense is aiding the squad in keeping the opponents from scoring as well. The Pack has held teams to just five goals in the last four games and six in the last five. Junior Carol Tognetti remains the team's leading scorer with three goals to go along with one assist. Freshman Lindsay Vera who has been sidelined in recent games has two goals and two assists. Freshmen Tami Krzeszewski and Ashleah Dingle also have goals, as does senior Lydia McBath. In net, senior Kim Selz has received the starting nod six games and has seen action in seven in just under 574 minutes of action. In that time she has allowed three goals, made 26 saves and recorded two shutouts. She is ranked fourth in the ACC for saves per game (3.71) and sixth in goals against (.47 goals allowed per game).
