Charlottesville, Va. - The NC State men's soccer team fell at No. 4 Virginia 2-0 Saturday night in Charlottesville, Va. Virginia got goals from Adam Cristman and Yannick Reyering in the first half, and kept the Wolfpack offense out of the goal the rest of the way. The Cavs (4-0-1, 1-0 ACC) have yet to give up a goal this season, and the Wolfpack (3-3-1, 0-1-1 ACC) was shutout for the first time this year.
Virginia would strike first in the 11th minute. The Cavs' Jeremy Barlow crossed the ball into the box to set up the first goal, and Cristman was there to tap it in. The Cavs' second goal came right before the half in the 40th minute. Reyering headed in a corner kick by Nico Colaluca to give Virginia the 2-0 lead.
That lead stood up through the second half, as the Cav's Ryan Burke recorded the shutout with four saves. NC State split time between its two senior keepers, Aaron Sanders played the first half and Jorge Gonzalez played the second 45-minutes.
NC State returns to action this Wednesday after, and hosts Elon at 4:00 p.m. at Method Road Soccer Stadium.
