NC State volleyball coach Mary Byrne announced today that Lyssa Ramirez, a 5-7 setter from El Paso, Texas, has transferred to NC State this fall from Midland (Texas) Junior College and will play for the Wolfpack this season as a junior. A two-time all-conference selection for the 2004 conference co-champions, Ramirez led Midland to its second straight Region V runner-up finish and a 29-10 record last season.
Earning all-region honors last year, Ramirez averaged 9.5 assists-per-game and broke school records for season assists (1,253 in 2004) and career assists (1,863).
The Wolfpack opens the season Sept. 2-3 with a home tournament, the Wolfpack Classic, at Reynolds Coliseum.
