RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State athletics department has answered the call for help from the areas of our nation devastated by Hurricane Katrina. At Sunday night's football game against Virginia Tech, student-athletes from almost every one of NC State's varsity squads will be volunteering their time to collect funds for Hurricane victims.
"Our prayers and thoughts are with all the folks who are going through this tragedy," said athletics director Lee Fowler. "Many of our student-athletes, coaches and staff have asked if they could do something to help, and I'm proud that they are willing to donate their time to this worthy effort."
Fans should look for "Hurricane Relief" signs at each of the public stadium gates to contribute to the effort. These gates will be staffed by student-athletes with American Red Cross buckets from when gates open until the end of the first quarter.
