Stefani Eddins, a rising senior on the NC State volleyball team, submitted answers to GoPack.com recently on a variety of subjects, most having nothing to do with volleyball. The program management major from Irving, Texas played in all 111 games of all 31 matches last season after transferring to NC State from North Carolina A&T the summer of 2004. The middle blocker shattered the school record with 173 total blocks and led the ACC with 1.56 blocks-per-game. Named the Team's MVP, Eddins was second on the squad with a .266 attack percentage and third with 2.31 kills-per-game. Eddins was a Dean's List student both semesters, she was named a NC State Scholar-Athlete both semesters and was selected to the 2004-05 ACC Academic Honor Roll.
GoPack: What are your nicknames on the team?
SE: They just call me Stef or Eddins.
GoPack: What has been your favorite class at NC State?
SE: Statistics.
GoPack: If a movie were made about you, which actor should play the part of you?
SE: Sanaa Lathan or Jada Pinket Smith.
GoPack: Why did you choose to come to NC State?
SE: I wanted to experience a more challenging competition, being in the ACC and more exposure in order to achieve my goal of going overseas to play.
GoPack: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
SE: Doctor.
GoPack: Nobody knows how much you like to do what?
SE: Read ... when I am not forced to.
GoPack: What has been your most embarrassing moment on the court?
SE: I don't have one. Why get embarrassed? THINGS HAPPEN, SO DEAL WITH IT!!!! :)
GoPack: What has been your greatest moment outside of volleyball?
SE: My academic success, and how proud my family is of me.
GoPack: What are your pregame rituals?
SE: I have to get crunk for the last minute before the coaches come in the locker room to talk to us. So I turn up the music and we act a fool!
GoPack: Who would you most like to switch places for a day with?
SE: Nobody, I still want to be in my life ... but with Oprah's money!
GoPack: What are your favorite hobbies?
SE: Sleeping, spending time with my friends and family, traveling and collecting shot glasses.
GoPack: If you had to give up all of your possessions but one, what would you keep?
SE: My Bible.
GoPack: What is your favorite place on campus?
SE: The locker room so I can sleep and Talley because I like to eat!
GoPack: Who has influenced you the most in life?
SE: My mother, because being a single parent is hard sometimes and she took that on like a soldier and provided a great life for me, even if it meant sacrificing anything that she desired. I must say I think I turned out great! :) Love you Mom!
GoPack: If you were in charge of practice for a week, what would you do?
SE: Only practice three of the five days, but on those we would practice hard on things that we needed to work on for our next opponent.
GoPack: What was the funniest incident on a road trip last year?
SE: Too funny to tell!
GoPack: Which teammate is most likely to be a head coach one day?
SE: Me, Okay or Kelly.
GoPack: Who is the funniest member of the team?
SE: Stephanie Sims, because she is a class clown and just likes to make people lighten up and have fun.
GoPack: If you could be on any magazine cover, which one would you choose?
SE: Ebony
GoPack: What event in history would you have liked to have witnessed?
SE: Martin Luther King Jr.'s I Have A Dream speech.
GoPack: What do you plan to be in 10 years?
SE: Successful.
GoPack: What is your favorite movie?
SE: Dirty Dancing, The Five Heartbeats, Beat Street, Love & Basketball.
GoPack: What is your favorite food?
SE: Chinese and Soul Food.
GoPack: What is your car's nickname?
SE: Betsy.
GoPack: If you were rich and decided to buy a boat, what would you call it?
SE: Titanic 2 - The one that stays afloat.
