Foster Qualifies For 100m Hurdles Final

CARSON, Calif. - NC State sprinter Ebony Foster qualified for the women's 100m hurdles final with a 8th place finish in the preliminaries Saturday night at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships presented by Visa at the Home Depot Center. The junior from Lynchburg, Va., finished third in her heat with a time of 13.01, which ties her best of the season and ranks second among collegians in the prelims. The Nike 100m hurdles women's final is scheduled for Sunday at 3:27 p.m. (6:27 p.m. EDT) and will be televised live on ESPN2.
Andy Smith capped a marvelous collegiate career Saturday afternoon with a sixth place finish in the men's 3,000m steeplechase. The senior from Hudson, Ohio posted a time of 8:36.33, the second fastest collegiate mark in the race.
Smith broke the school record in the steeplechase twice this season, finished third at the NCAA Championships, earned All-America honors in the event for the third time, won his third straight ACC Championship in the event and his second straight NCAA East Regional Championship as well. Also an All-American and ACC Champion in cross country, Smith led the Wolfpack to four straight ACC Championships. He graduated Cum Laude from NC State in May with a degree in History and is the recipient of an ACC postgraduate scholarship.
