GREENSBORO, N.C. - Jessica Vincent, a rising sophomore on the NC State women's golf team, took second place in the North Carolina Women's State Amateur Championship at the par 73 Sedgefield Country Club on Thursday. The Burlington, N.C., native finished four strokes under-par and broke the course women's record on Wednesday with a second-round 64.
Molly Birmingham improved three strokes each round to finish in fifth place at two-over. The rising senior from Cornelius, N.C., shot two-under in the final round. Nancy Mountcastle, a rising junior from Durham, N.C., tied for seventh place with an eight-over total. Lauren Harling, a rising sophomore from Laurinburg, N.C., placed 16th.
Sarah Davis, a senior for the Wolfpack this past season, took first place in her flight. The Raleigh, N.C., native improved seven strokes from the first round to the second and then shaved three more off in the last round.
