Wolfpack Wins Five Events At Duke Twilight Meet

DURHAM, N.C. - The NC State outdoor track & field teams had a successful showing at the Duke/Asics Twilight Meet on Sunday evening. Joya Rodgers, Leslie Jimison, Mattie Bethea, Dexter Adams and Mitchell Pope all won their respective events for the Wolfpack.
Rodgers won the 100m dash with a time of 12.24, Jimison won the steeplechase with a time of 11:10.96 and Joanna Rodgers was the runner-up with a time of 11:17.08. Bethea cleared 5-5 to win the high jump. Kelly Brown was the runner-up in the 1,500m with a time of 4:34.41, leading four other NC State distance runners in the race, as Jennifer Boyd placed fifth at 4:37.22, Sara Powell came in ninth at 4:43.24 while Georgia Davis and Jessie Yester competed as well.
Ebony Foster was the runner-up in the 100m hurdles, running a NCAA Regional qualifying time of 13.55. Josianne Lauber took third place in the 5,000m with a time of 17:13.65 and Abigail Nelkie finished fifth in 17:32.81. Tabitha Woodard cleared a career-best 11-9 3/4 to finish second in the pole vault and Brie Ward reached 128-3 for sixth in the discus. Ward also set a career-best mark of 157-3 in the hammer throw for fifth place.
On the men's side, Adams won the long jump with a season-best mark of 23-5 1/4 and Pope won the shot put with another regional qualifying mark of 58-4 1/2. Chris Crawford finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 50-3 1/4 and was the runner-up in the hammer throw with a heave of 177-8. Eric Hoverstad was the runner-up in the pole vault, clearing 16-2 3/4.
Brian Clark took fifth place in the 100m and Matt Minnick competed as well. Omar Wells recorded a 21.99 in the 200m for 11th place and Bryce Ruiz posted a 3:54.94 in the 1,500m for 10th place.
