GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Hi...this is Lauren Harling reporting in from Gainesville, FL at Regionals. I am a freshman on the Women's Golf team this year.
It is about 10:30 and we have settled into our rooms. The team met today at pre-flight around 1:45. Our flights were very smooth and quick. We had to fly into Atlanta from Raleigh and then from Atlanta to Gainesville. Each flight was only about an hour. We flew into Gainesville on a smaller jet that we had to board from outside and climbed the stairs to the cabin. We were on the small plane with Duke, Mississippi St. and Ohio St.
I am rooming with the two juniors, Molly and Lorraine! They stuck me on the cot again, but this one is not as bad as some of the others. The springs in another cot I got the privilage of sleeping on hugged my ribs all night, so I am not complaining this time!
I am really excited about playing in Regionals as a freshman. This will be a great experience and something I can learn from in the future. I have been fortunate to travel to most of the tournaments this semester and I have learned a great deal. Hopefully, I will put all I have learned to great use. We have heard that the course can be compared to Pinehurst #2, where the Men's US Open will be played this summer, so I think we are in for a treat!
Tomorrow we will be waking up around 7:30 for breakfast and teeing off for our practice round at 9:40. Nancy will be giving you an update tomorrow evening after our practice round!
GO PACK!!
--Lauren
