Smith, Adams Finish In Top 7 At NCAA Regionals

NEW YORK - Julia Lucas, a sophomore at NC State, qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 5,000m with a third place finish at the NCAA East Regional Championships. Lucas posted a season-best time of 15:50.96 to lead the Wolfpack.
Ebony Foster ran a 13.17 in the preliminaries of the 100m hurdles to take second place and qualify for the finals tomorrow. Renee Gunning finished sixth in the 5,000m with a time of 16:05.35. She is elegible for an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships.
Ginger Wheeler ran a 16:49.23 in the 5,000m to place 24th, while Magin Kebert posted a 14th place finish in the 1,500m with a time of 4:30.33 and Angelina Blackmon ran a 2:08.72 in the 800m to notch a 13th place finish.
On the men's side, Wesley Smith took sixth place in the 5,000m with a time of 13:59.34 and Dexter Adams reached 24-4 1/4 in the long jump to finish seventh and making themselves elegible for at-large bids to the NCAA Championships. Chris Kollar posted a 3:51.25 in the 1,500m for 17th place and Mitchell Pope competed in the shot put.
