A trio of NC State softball players made the all-ACC team on Wednesday, marking the first time a Wolfpack player has received the accolades in the program's two seasons. Jen Chamberlin and Abbie Sims each made the first team for their play in leading NC State to a 40-23 record and fourth place finish in the ACC, while Heather Gelbard was selected to the second team. Chamberlin, a sophomore third baseman from San Mateo, Calif., hit 10 home runs to rank second in the conference and her 22 career dingers is 11th all-time in the ACC. Sims tossed three no-hitters, including a perfect game as the sophomore from Artesia, N.M. was twice named ACC Player of the Week in 2005. Hailing from Miami, Fla. and as another sophomore, Gelbard is among the ACC leaders in hits and doubles and is the career NC State leader in both categories.
"This is obviously a great honor for all three of these deserving student-athletes," head coach Lisa Navas said. "They have done a great job for us over our first two seasons and have really been the mainstays in the program."
All three players will help lead NC State in the ACC Championships, which will run Wednesday-Sunday, May 12-15 in College Park, Md.
