NC State volleyball coach Mary Byrne announced the signing of Brittany Pacella to a national letter of intent to attend NC State University next fall and to play volleyball for the Wolfpack. Pacella, a 6-0 senior rightside hitter/setter at Holy Name High School in Reading, Pa., was a first-team all-state selection in 2004 and was named the Player of the Year by both her league and county.
A two-time first-team all-district and all-Berks County selection, Pacella captained the squad her senior season, leading the team to a runner-up finish at the state championship and a 25-3 overall record. Pacella also plays for the Philadelphia Volleyball Academy, one of the top clubs in the entire Northeast, and she has helped PVA qualify for nationals for the second straight year.
The oldest of four children, Pacella hails from Sinking Springs, Pa., and is the daughter of David and Kathy Pacella. Her father, David Pacella, was an All-ACC football player at Maryland and spent a couple seasons in the NFL.
