It's been another great year on the playing fields and courts for NC State's student-athletes. It's also been a year of tremendous accomplishment for these student-athletes in the classroom. On Tuesday, April 12, NC State took time to salute the young men and women who represent the university so well. The occasion, the annual Caterpillar Scholar Athlete Banquet, held at the Brownstone Hotel in Raleigh.
The event honors student-athletes who compile a 3.0 or better grade point average during a semester at NC State. Some 230 were recognized for their accomplishments in the spring semester of 2004. That included 136 student-athletes who made the NC State Dean's List. Some 227 student-athletes were cited for their work during the fall semester of 2004. Of those, 142 were also named to the NC State Dean's List.
" I am extremely proud of these outstanding student athletes. They have demonstrated an unbelievable commitment to excellence," said Phil Moses, Director of NC State's Academic Program for Student Athletes. He added, " The ASPSA is also proud of our partnership with Caterpillar. Their commitment to our program allows us this wonderful venue to showcase our accomplishments."
