Gymnastics Qualifies for NCAA Regionals

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State gymnastics team has once again qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships, the 15th time in the last 16 years. The NCAA Gymnastics Committee announced the fields for each of the six 2004 NCAA Region Championships sites. The Wolfpack will head to Gainesville, Florida, to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships on Saturday, April 9. The meet will be hosted by the University of Florida in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center at 6:00 p.m.
Six teams, five all-around competitors (who are not on a qualifying team) and one individual event specialist per event were named to each of the six regions - West, North Central, South Central, Central, Northeast and Southeast. The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships in Auburn, Alabama, April 21-23, hosted by Auburn University. In addition, the event winners at the regional championships will advance to the national championships (in that event only) if they are not part of a qualifying team or the all-around qualifiers.

No. 5 Georgia, No. 6 Florida and No. 17 Denver are the seeded teams at the NCAA Southeast Regional. No. 25 North Carolina, No. 26 West Virginia and No. 28 North Carolina State round out the field for the Gainesville site.
After having a bye on the first rotations, NC State will start the meet on floor then move over to vault. After a second bye, the PAck will finish the meet on bars then beam.
