AWENDAW, S.C. - The NC State men's golf got off to a great start Monday morning at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, shooting seven-over-par at the par 71 Bulls Bay Golf Club. The Wolfpack is in sixth place of 15 teams after the first round of 18 holes and is led by Stephen Lewton, who carded an even-par score in the opening round and is tied for eighth place.
Taylor Crosby shot one-over and is tied for 17th place while Jerry Richardson and Garry Hill are both tied for 29th at three-over. Banks Wood is four-over and tied for 34th.
Originally scheduled as a three-day event beginning Sunday, the first round was postponed until Monday because of inclement weather. Planning to play the first two rounds Monday, the beginning of the tournament was delayed a couple more hours because the course was still too wet from the thunderstorms a day earlier. With one round finally completed, the teams began the second round and will play as long as there is daylight. The third and final round will immediately follow the completion of the second round Tuesday morning.
Augusta State is even par after the first round and leads the tournament, while Chan Song from Georgia Tech and Scott Jamieson from the Augusta State are tied for first place at six-under. Complete results from the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate might be posted at www.uscsports.com.
