MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The NC State Wolfpack men's swimming team finished in 31st at the 2005 NCAA Swimming Championships. Cullen Jones swam the final event of the championships for NC State with a 44.64 100 freestyle, good for 41st first nationally in the event. The Wolfpack finished third among the seven ACC teams, and second among teams with swimmers, represented at the championships, trailing only Virginia (12th) and Miami (17th), with the Hurricanes having divers only compete.
"We are very excited to finish second out of the swimming teams in the conference, and it is always special when you beat teams like FSU, UNC and Georgia Tech on a national stage," assistant coach Chad Onken remarked. "The weekend wasn't perfect, but hopefully this is a sign of good things to come for Wolfpack swimming and diving."
NC State finished ahead of Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Georgia Tech and Florida State in the meet.
