Gymnastics Places Seven on All-EAGL Squads

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State State gymnastics team finished the regular season tops in the EAGL in the RQS score, and for that effort seven individuals where named to the All-EAGL teams. That total ties for the most honored in a year at NC State, as the 1998 and 1999 squads were also represented with seven members. NC State will host the EAGL Championships this Friday, March 25, at 6 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum.
Freshman Leigha Hancock made quite an impact in the Pack's lineup as a freshman this season, competing on vault, beam and floor in every meet this year. For her efforts Hancock was named the EAGL Rookie of the Year and All-EAGL second team for beam. She is just the second Wolfpack gymnast in school history to take home the top award for a freshman, after Kara Charles was honored in 1998. The Suffield, Conn. native posted season bests of 9.825 on vault, 9.875 on beam and 9.85 on floor. She also earned a Rookie of the Week honor after NC State's back-to-back meets against North Carolina.
Junior Kylah Bachman garnered three All-EAGL accolades. She was named to the All-EAGL first team for vault and bars and also received a second team nod for her all-around performances this season. Her NC State best nine event titles, helped produce her second-straight All-EAGL second team honor for all-around. The York, Pa. native owns career bests of 9.875 in vault, 9.9 on the uneven bars, 9.975 on beam, 9.9 on floor and 39.5 for all-around.
Senior Cori Goldstein was named All-EAGL first team for both beam and floor this year, and finishes her career being honored a total of six times. The Plainview, N.Y. native posted a career-best 9.725 on the vault this season at the Governor's Cup. She was also a two-time EAGL Specialist of the Week in 2005.
For the second straight year, sophomore Rachel Katz was named to the All-EAGL first team on vault. Katz also earned a spot on the second team for floor this year. The Bloomington, Ind. native was an EAGL Specialist of the Week for the second time in her career this season. She owns a career-high 9.95 on the vault and 9.9 for floor.
Four NC State gymnasts were rewarded for the first time in their careers. Senior Andrea Petrocelli was named All-EAGL first team on beam. She set her career best in the event this season with a 9.9 score at the Hearts Invitational. Sophomore Amanda Jones was honored on the first team on bars. She also notched a career-best of 9.85 on the uneven bars. NC State freshman Heather Zolton earned a spot on the second team on bars to help the Wolfpack earn its second All-EAGL nod for the freshmen group. The New Port Richey, Fla. native posted a season-best of 9.875 twice this season on the bars.
NC State will look to capture its third EAGL Championship, as the Wolfpack hosts the 10th annual EAGL Championships this Friday night at 6 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum.
