Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State gymnastics team enjoyed Senior Day with a victory over conference rival West Virginia this past weekend. The meet was the Pack's final regular season meet, and now NC State heads into the postseason as strong as ever. The Pack will have a great opportunity to captures its third EAGL conference title by hosting the conference championships this Friday night. Assistant coach Todd Henry talks about this important two-week stretch in `Inside the Chalk Box'.
Henry: We had a huge victory this past week against EAGL rival West Virginia. NC State has gone undefeated this year at home! The Mountaineers are a quality team and will be tough to beat at EAGL. With that victory we have moved into the No. 26 in the national rankings. Congrats go out to Leigha Hancock for her victory on balance beam. Heather Zolton was the top performer on bars, and Kylah Bachman scored the first 9.9 of the season for the Wolfpack on floor!!
Speaking of EAGL, it all comes down to this weekend. We host our conference championships at Reynolds on Friday. Rachel Katz and Andrea Petrocelli have both had some severe ankle and knee problems but this will not hold them or us back! Jenn Gray (9.8 bars) along with some great team support, has stepped in to fill voids for our injured kids. As with every sports, bumps and bruises are a part of the job.
See ya this weekend
