Gymnastics Places 12 on EAGL All-Academic Team

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State gymnastics team placed 12 members on the 2005 EAGL All-Academic Team, it was announced by EAGL officials on Monday. A record 95 scholar-athletes from the eight East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) schools were named overall. The 95 honorees is the highest total in the 10-year history of the EAGL. In 1999, 2000, and 2004, 88 gymnasts were honored.
In order to be named to the EAGL All-Academic team, student-athletes must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the two previous semesters. Freshmen are also eligible if they earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the fall semester.
Rutgers led all of the EAGL teams with 18 honorees. North Carolina was second with all 16 of its gymnasts as All-Academic Team selections, while North Carolina State and the University of Maryland tied for third (12).
Of the 95 gymnasts, twelve were honored for the fourth time in their careers. Cori Goldstein (Plainview, N.Y.) of North Carolina State was named to the EAGL All-Academic Team for the fourth time straight year.
